Etymology: Venus(Roman Goddess of love and beauty)

Venus is the 2nd planet from the Sun and just like Mercury, it does not have any moons. Venus is known to be extremely physically comparable to the Earth because of their similar sizes and semi-major axes.

The atmosphere of Venus is extremely abundant with carbon dioxide and sulfur dioxide, causing it to have the greatest greenhouse effect in the entire Solar System. Due to the excessive trapping of heat within the Venusian atmosphere, the surface temperatures hover around 735 K.

Thousands of craters are riddled along the surface, possibly due to the Late Heavy Bombardment, and there are significant highlands regions on the surface, too. Due to the intense pressure of the atmospheric gases on Venus, it is very difficult to observe the surface and you wouldn't be able to last very long at all on the planet's surface due to the extreme surface temperatures and pressure.

In September 2020, astronomers at Cardiff University believed to have found phosphine(PH3) in the Venusian atmosphere as a potential sign of life. This is because phosphine isn't naturally produced chemically on Venus so only a living organism could have produced it in theory. However, later re-analysis labeled the discovery a false positive but there is still prospection as to the habitability of Venus and the potential extreme life it could hold.
