The Zodiac

The Zodiac is the area of the celestial sky that consists of the constellations that the Sun goes through relative to us on Earth. Of course, we orbit the Sun but relative to us, the Sun is also moving in the sky due to our orbit. The Zodiac creates a plane for the Sun to move through. The Zodiac also has major historical influence, especially in relation to astrology, a field that makes supernatural, often divine inferences from the behaviors and positions of astronomical bodies.

The Sun goes through 12 constellation regions in its path through the ecliptic. These 12 constellations thus form the Zodiac. The following topics discuss these constellations by order:

Aries

Taurus

Gemini

Cancer

Leo

Virgo

Libra

Scorpio

Sagittarius

Capricorn

Aquarius

Pisces
