The constellation of Leo has been associated with a lion across several older cultures. In Greek mythology, Leo is associated with the Nemean lion that Heracles killed during his twelve labors.
Leo houses a few notable stars. These include Regulus(a blue-white main-sequence star), Beta Leonis(blue-white star), and Algieba(gold-yellow giant). Leo also holds the notable Leo Ring, a massive intergalactic cloud of hydrogen and helium gas orbiting two galaxies within Leo.
